Ok, so my toes may not be the most uber flexible on the planet but I've always considered them to be relatively movable, pliable, bendy and genuinely normal. Turns out I may have been misinformed and this became painfully (quite literally) clear when I visited a yoga class with a friend.
Having expected only to flex and tone the larger muscles of my body, I was fairly stunned when the Yoga master asked us to concentrate on each toe in turn, raising and flexing each digit in sequence. We were then expected to 'splay' our toes and position them on the floor whilst spread in this manner.
Weird, and for me, quite frankly impossible. Only when I strained and struggled for a prolonged number of seconds did my smallest toe briefly leave its neighbour and spasm into life resulting in painful crippling cramp for me!!
So, here's to those with flexibly freaky phlanges...good for you, but the toe yoga doesn't really appeal to me!!
