Yoga Toes...

Ok, so my toes may not be the most uber flexible on the planet but I've always considered them to be relatively movable, pliable, bendy and genuinely normal. Turns out I may have been misinformed and this became painfully (quite literally) clear when I visited a yoga class with a friend.

Having expected only to flex and tone the larger muscles of my body, I was fairly stunned when the Yoga master asked us to concentrate on each toe in turn, raising and flexing each digit in sequence. We were then expected to 'splay' our toes and position them on the floor whilst spread in this manner.

Weird, and for me, quite frankly impossible. Only when I strained and struggled for a prolonged number of seconds did my smallest toe briefly leave its neighbour and spasm into life resulting in painful crippling cramp for me!!

So, here's to those with flexibly freaky phlanges...good for you, but the toe yoga doesn't really appeal to me!!

These feet...

Today my feet did some walking...actually more than some - a lot. Now, it may not have been for fitness purposes but it certainly gave them a workout whilst wearing pointy, spike heeled shoes. Its been a while and I'm certain I heard them breathe a sigh of relief when I released them from the faux leather ankle boots. In fact my right foot had clearly attempted to make a break for it, the zip had slipped down and is now stuck at the half way point.

Note to self, they may be pretty BUT they're not comfy and they're not condusive to good foot posture...my toes are still unfurling 2 hours later!!
